Program Description:
The MPH degree in BCHS prepares students for professional careers in which they will develop and deliver programs to improve and maintain health in our communities. The BCHS discipline is concerned with promoting wellness, preventing disease, and improving the quality of life in at-risk communities and populations. The BCHS program advocates the use of a socio-ecological approach to identify and understand the social, cultural, and bio-behavioral determinants affecting health.
The diverse backgrounds of BCHS faculty afford students a broad range of applied public health experiences designing, implementing, and evaluating interventions to address challenging public health issues such as childhood obesity, HIV/ AIDS, tobacco use, and cancer control and prevention. The BCHS program of study for the MPH degree consists of 45 credit hours in which students complete coursework, research, practice experience, and a capstone project.
