Program Description:

Aims of the course
This course introduces the principles of low energy design and the integration of renewable energies in buildings. It is tailored for professionals working in the built environment who wish to acquire specialist skills and knowledge. In this unique course you will benefit from tuition in some of the major European institutions undertaking work in this field, creating a European-wide perspective. The European Commission has financially supported the creation of this course. It follows a similar course to the MSc in Architecture, Energy and Sustainability with some important exceptions.
The course is being run simultaneously in whole or in part in five other institutions. These are the architectural schools in Barcelona and a consortium in Italy (Florence, Milan, Rome and Naples), engineering schools in Porto and La Rochelle and the applied physics school at the University of Athens.

You are required to undertake at least two taught modules or the dissertation in another country. A minimum of 50% of the course should be taken at London Metropolitan University.

Course Structure
You will complete an equal number of taught and research-based modules. The course is designed to equip you with the skills and understanding you will need to formulate, evaluate and carry out a complex project. Core modules include:

Energy Comfort and Buildings
Low Energy Architecture
You then take the following three specialist modules:
