Program Description:

Are you ready to begin your new career as a teacher? With Lewis University's accelerated Master of Arts program in Elementary Education, you could earn your master's and your teaching certificate in a year and a half.
You will take courses such as:
•Methods of Teaching Reading and Integrated Language Arts, K-9
•Methods of Teaching Social Studies and Multicultural Studies, K-9
•Technology for Teaching and Learning
•Curriculum and Instruction in Middle School
You will also spend a year as an assistant teacher in a partnership school, working with a mentor teacher.
Accreditation:
All teacher education programs are approved for entitlement by the Illinois State Board of Education in conjunction with the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board. In addition, the College of Education has earned NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) accreditation.
Eligibility Requirements:
•Submit a completed graduate application form with non-refundable application fee, two letters of recommendation, and official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended.
•Meet with the appropriate Department Chair or Program Director for a personal interview to discuss your education goals.
•Receive a passing grade on the Illinois Certification Basic Skills Test .
•Complete a satisfactory Graduate Writing Requirement during your first semester of graduate study.
