Program Description:

In today's wired world, teaching with technology is a must. It's important that students receive the training to use technology productively as adults. Fortunately, students are often very receptive to technology as a learning tool.

Lewis University's M.Ed. program in Instructional Technology is designed for teachers in PreK-12 schools, and other professional educators. Whether you already hold a teaching license or are seeking one, the Instructional Technology program will help you learn how to best integrate technology into your classroom.

The curriculum explores several key areas:

•You will learn the most effective ways to make technology part of your teaching.
•You will work to design and develop instructional materials for a diverse student population, including at-risk students and students with disabilities.
•You will understand your ethical and legal responsibilities when using technology in the classroom.
The program is aligned with Technology Standards for All Illinois Teachers, and the Standards for Technology by the International Society for Technology in Education.

Eligibility Requirements:

•You should hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. (To qualify for full admission, you should have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 for the final 60 hours.)

•Successfully complete the Illinois Certification Basic Skills Test.

•Submit a completed graduate application form with non-refundable application fee, two letters of recommendation, and official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended.

•Meet with the appropriate Department Chair or Program Director for a personal interview to discuss your educational goals.

•Complete a satisfactory Graduate Writing Requirement during your first semester of graduate study.
