Program Description:
The Master of Science in Ecological Teaching and Leaning (ETL) is designed for educators working in private and public schools; museums; environmental centers; government organizations; and other teaching settings who want to expand their understanding and practice of ecological teaching and learning pedagogies. Teachers from all disciplines will deepen their understanding of ecology, sustainability, living systems and ecological education and apply their learning to their professional contexts.
The program structure combines two 3-week summer field experiences with online learning, enabling most students to continue working full-time while completing the degree. Field experiences are conducted in either the Northeast or the Northwest regions of the United States, and past sites include the Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Washington; Seattle, Washington; Cobscook Bay in Dennysville, Maine; and Boston, Massachusetts.
