The Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) with a specialization in Literacy: Language, Reading and Writing trains experienced elementary, middle, and high school teachers to be aware of a range of issues and ideas, and to use a variety of methods and strategies that are central to teaching students to read, write, speak, and listen across the grades. The core C&I coursework integrates strands such as technology, classroom equity, inclusion of students with special needs, curriculum development and assessment, classroom inquiry, and collaboration.The Literacy specialization courses provide educators with a foundation in current theoretical models related to literacy learning and its application across diverse populations of students.
