Program Description:

The MA in Southeast Asian Studies at Leiden University - officially the MA in Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia and Oceania - consists of a year of intensive study of Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, with the emphasis on a particular humanities or social sciences discipline. A characteristic feature of the programme is that it enables and stimulates the students to work directly with materials from Southeast Asia. Through the cultural expertise and academic skills that it promotes, the programme prepares students for a career in international relations, the public sector, the media or the creative industries, to name a few examples, or for advanced research in the fascinating field of Southeast Asian studies.
