Program Description:
The department offers an M.A. in Sociology with a focus on applied science research.The Masters in Sociology engages students with department faculty in the application of sociological and social psychological perspectives and methods to the analysis and understanding of social problems. Grounded in a strong theoretical and substantive understanding of social institutions, social relations, and social policy, as well as in advanced research and computer skills, students are prepared to be effective and experienced practitioners in the field of applied social research. Students in the Community Fellows program can obtain their masters degree in twelve months at greatly reduced tuition by working part-time in a community agency to complete specific advocacy and research projects designed by the agency.
