Program Description:
MS in Mental Health Counseling
-Min. of 60 semester hrs. is required.
-Preparation for work in a wide variety of community agencies such as mental health centers, probation & parole departments, substance abuse centers, residential treatment centers, church-related counseling centers & private practice.
-This degree is the first stage toward licensure as a professional counselor.
-Consists of 5 semesters of approved gradaute study.
MS in School Counseling
-Min. of 48 semester hrs. is required.
-Program benefits students with undergraduate degrees in psycho9logy, sociology, human development or teacher education who are seeking to become a licensed school counselor in the PreK-12 school setting.
-Students who successfully complete the degree program and meet all standardized test requirements and other conditions set by the state, are eligible for school counselor liscensure in grades PreK-12 (NTE Praxis-School Counselor Exam) and for certification by the NBCC (Liscensed Professional Counselor Exam).
