Program Description:
The Department of Moral Education views the purpose of education to be to unlock the potentialities that lie in each human being in such a way that they are of benefit to humankind. This implies an approach to education that is principle-oriented and which incorporates both the conceptual and the normative aspects of ethics and morality into educational processes. The aims of the Department of Education are to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of education, familiarity with methods of educational research and interpretation, and the essentials of curriculum development. Current theories and approaches in education are studied and analyzed from a perspective informed by spiritual principles and moral values. The MA degree program has two components: 1) theory - a review of concepts of human nature, education, and the foundations of ethics and morality; 2) practice - the development of educational curricula applying knowledge of the above; as well as participation in on-campus educational programs for children and youth.
