Program Description:

The study of history and folklore is based on historical materials and artifacts. The Course of History and Folklore Studies aims to impart high-level survey and research skills for examining Japanese society and culture. Students learn how to properly handle and apply historical materials and artifacts and to conduct assessments and empirical analyses. The course curriculum was revised for the 2010 academic year and now offers a wider range of study with the addition of Nonwritten Cultural Materials to the existing areas of Historical Materials and Folk History and Artifacts.
