Program Description:
JCU’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences has an established reputation for research in tropical environments and protected area management. Natural Resource Management aims to educate students in the background, principles and practices of natural resource management applied to tropical systems. The wide range of electives allows students to specialise in the management of marine or terrestrial environments.
The courses provide specialist training in the background, principles, techniques and practices of protected area management, with a particular emphasis on tropical environments. Core subjects provide the foundation and adopt a global perspective. Students develop a thorough appreciation of the issues involved in protected area management. Electives are available across a wide range of science disciplines, enabling students to include and develop special interests.
These are flexible programs. Students devise a program of coursework in consultation with the Course Coordinator to match their professional goals and interests. The programs can be structured to include a research component. For detailed information see the School NRM/PAM Coursework Booklet.
