Program Description:

The M.A. in philanthropic studies focuses on the why-the social, cultural, political, and economic roles played by philanthropy and nonprofit organizations. The program is also available in executive format to meet the needs of those unable to attend Indiana University on a traditional basis. The core curriculum of the M.A. in philanthropic studies provides grounding in the disciplines of history, philosophy, law, economics, political science, American studies, finance, and management and draws upon both academic theory and real-world experience. The M.A. in philanthropic studies is a 36-credit-hour graduate program and includes 18 hours of course work central to the study of philanthropy, 12 hours of elective course work, and a thesis.
