Program Description:

The course places an emphasis on directing and developing the individual's specific skills, while exposing each student to relevant contemporary issues. It aims to illustrate the essential nature of the urban design process by considering the contexts in which urban design operates, the participants in the system and the products which result. The structure and content of the course have been prepared to allow the maximumflexibility for students. The content centres on a core of seminars covering the theoretical and historical background to urban development accompanied by a series of design exercises and studies exposing students to a design and development emphasis. The complexity of the issues addressed increases from a basic introduction in the first term to a comprehensive study in Term 3.
