Program Information
Degree Offered
Master’s, M.A.-Global Leadership
Format: Campus
Program Description:
Human activity today exceeds the natural limits of major life support systems on the planet. Issues of sustainability are now pressing upon all organizations and social systems, thus requiring knowledgeable, impassioned leaders who have the moral clarity and conceptual tools to think critically about both local and global problems in all human systems. The Masters of Arts in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development program addresses some of the foremost issues facing humanity today: resource depletion and full environmental sinks into which waste is placed, climate change, and myriad stressors resulting from humanity's growing ecological footprint. Hawai'i Pacific University's Masters of Arts in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development (MA/GLSD) is designed to prepare students to lead change initiatives in a globalizing world which is increasingly characterized by chaos, complexity, and change. Students learn to simultaneously search for the underlying causes of global environmental, economic, and social problems, and at the same time learn how to design and lead responses that produce sustainable outcomes for the current and future generations.
