Program Description:
Religion and Society is part of the Ethics and Social Theory area at the GTU. Doctoral students have the choice of concentrating their studies in ethics or the social scientific study of religion. For example, in the ethics concentration, one can focus on economic ethics; environmental ethics; bioethics; feminist ethics; Roman Catholic moral theology; and theories of justice and human rights. On the social-science track, a student can concentrate on sociology of religion, especially in new religious movements; the comparative sociological study of Catholicism; religion and politics; gender studies and religion; ritual and pilgrimage; and work and religion.
Eligibility Requirements:
M.A. - GRE: 550, GPA: 3.0
Ph.D. - GRE: 600, GPA: 3.5
Reading knowledge in one modern foreign language is required by the 3rd semester of both programs.
