Program Description:

The joint PhD in Near Eastern Religions is the only one of its kind in the United States. The rich faculty and library resources of the UC Berkeley and the GTU are combined to provide a program of extraordinary flexibility, breadth, and depth, supervised by a committee of faculty from both institutions. Students may study, in depth, the archaeology, history, languages, literatures, and thought patterns of the ancient Near East and Egypt, with emphasis on various forms of the religious expression of these ancient peoples. Only the doctoral program is available in this field.
