Program Information
Degree Offered
Grad.-Advanced Studies in Literature
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The GGS Literary Theory consists of interuniversity specialization courses that further explore the different literary theoretical methodes - which have been dealt with in the first and second cycles - and increase the expertise in these methods. The programme prepares the student for independent scientific research, while stressing interdisciplinarity. At the same time, some practical skills are taught with a view to gathering, managing, and processing information, as well as presenting research results. Additional attention is paid to the professional use of theory within the broad cultural field. In Flanders, there are no other advanced academic studies with a simular profile. The GGS Literary Theory is a joint venture by the University of Antwerp (UIA), Ghent University (RUG), the Catholic University Leuven (KULeuven) and Brussels Free University (VUB). The courses, which are aimed at the students' participation, are taught at the four participating universities during two semesters. In the first semester, classes are taught at RUG and VUB; the second semester is reserved for UIA and KULeuven.
