Program Description:
Since 1993, we have been identified as the Department of Educational Policy Studies (EPS), as a result of a mass restructuring process within the College of Education. EPS offers an interdisciplinary graduate program leading to various degrees and certifications. We have a unique and diverse faculty that varies in ethnicity, age, and social backgrounds, offering their expertise in program areas such as: Educational Leadership, Research Measurement and Statistics (RMS), and Social Foundations. Like a carefully woven tapestry, each area of concentration in these programs contribute to the whole by fostering different ways of developing methodologies and patterns of understanding. Through RMS, we can analyze the statistical correlation between poverty and academic performance in urban settings, and through the work of the Center for Urban Excellence; we develop new strategies for empowering teachers, enabling them to overcome many of the obstacles faced by their students.
