Program Description:
The Education Specialist Program is designed to provide a high level of professional proficiency skills as well as research skills which are emphasized throughout the program course work. The role of the classroom teacher is expanded to that of teacher/researcher which allows the Education Specialist candidate to become a more active participant and critical consumer of educational research. The Ed.S. curriculum is based on an inquiry approach that emphasizes reflective, problem-solving skills applicable to a multitude of education problems, pedagogy, and issues.
A concentration area is required. Concentrations are available in: art education, business education, early childhood education, English education, foreign language-Spanish education, health and physical education, mathematics education, middle grades education, music education, literacy (reading) education, science education, social science education, or special education.
The degree can be completed online if courses are selected from available online courses.

Eligibility Requirements:
GRE or MAT test scores are accepted.
Possess or be eligible for a Professional Level Five Certificate in one of the following fields: Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Foreign Languages, Health/PE, Music, Special Education, Middle Grades, Reading, a Secondary Education program area, or a related educational field.
