Program Description:
The M.F.A. in Dance is a 60-credit-hour plan of study grounded in the modern dance genre, that emphasizes performance, teaching, and choreography. Candidates are expected to enter the program with advanced technical proficiency in either ballet or modern technique and are expected to take advantage of the diverse and abundant cultural opportunities in the Washington, D.C., area. The curriculum allows for and encourages apprenticeships and internships in professional and resident companies, experimentation in academic pursuits, and the development of independent and interdisciplinary artistic projects.
