Program Description:

A Master of Science degree in Nursing Leadership at Franklin Pierce University prepares graduates to assume leadership roles
in healthcare organizations. Graduates will be able to demonstrate leadership skills that motivate a team toward a common
goal. Graduates of this program will learn how to interpret clinical and management-related research to improve organizational
and client outcomes, make data-driven decisions to enhance the utilization of clinical and fiscal resources, and to design and
implement change projects in healthcare delivery systems and evaluate their impact.

The Franklin Pierce University MSN program is designed for nurses who have earned a baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or
an associate’s degree in Nursing and a baccalaureate degree in another discipline from a recognized program, and wish to
pursue graduate studies through a combination of in-class and online learning. Courses are offered at the University’s Concord,
Portsmouth and Lebanon, NH centers and the program is designed to be completed in just 18-24 months.

THE PROGRAM
• Courses are offered in four 12-week terms per
academic year.
• The program is designed to be completed in 18-24
months of full-time study. Full-time study is defined
as two or more courses per term.
• Classes are offered in a hybrid format which is a
combination of in-class and online learning. Hybrid
courses will be scheduled in block time at a central
location and are likely to meet for six evening
sessions in a 12-week term.
• No entrance exams are required for admission into
the program.
• Candidates who have an associate’s degree or a
diploma in nursing and a baccalaureate degree in a
discipline other than nursing may be accepted into
the program on a case-by-case basis provided they
can provide evidence of foundational competencies
in the following baccalaureate nursing areas:
evidenced-based practice, health assessment
and promotion, community health nursing, and
leadership. Candidates who are in this situation
should see an advisor for recommendations on
any additional undergraduate coursework deemed
necessary to achieve success in the MSN program.
• Students will complete a leadership capstone
project in preparation for graduation from the MSN
Leadership program.

Eligibility Requirements:

Prerequisites*:
• Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
or another discipline from a recognized academic
program.
• Achievement of minimum cumulative grade point
average (GPA) of 2.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Successful completion of an undergraduate
statistics course with a grade of C or better.

• Current professional resume;
• A statement of professional goals including
reasons for pursuing graduate study.
Additional requirements:
• Receipt of official transcripts from all colleges
and/or universities attended.
• Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered
Nurse issued by New Hampshire or another
jurisdiction.
