Program Description:
The College of Social Work Doctoral Program at Florida State University was established in 1974. Our program has awarded over 100 doctoral degrees, and our graduates have highly successful careers in academic settings and the private sector.
A recent ranking of Social Work programs places the FSU College of Social Work graduate faculty as the 4th most productive in the country.
The Doctoral Program typically admits the top six to eight applicants each fall who are among the best and brightest students in social work. Students study in a variety of different areas - child welfare, foster care and adoption, mental health, substance abuse, aging, domestic violence, juvenile justice, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and a number of other areas of great importance to society.
Eligibility Requirements:
A minimum of three years is required to complete the program though students typically finish in four to five years in order to take extra courses in their area of interest. Students at FSU regularly decide to take advanced statistical courses to obtain a Certificate in Statistics along with their Ph.D.
