Program Description:
The Department of Textiles and Consumer Sciences addresses the physical, behavioral, and economic factors influencing apparel/textile product development, retail merchandising, and residential environments. The Department mission is accomplished through four programmatic areas. The Textiles program area focuses on issues related to the development and testing of textile materials. The Apparel Product Development program area prepares professionals to design, develop and test fashionable and functional apparel for the global market with emphasis on products that meet consumer and occupational needs. The Merchandising program area focuses on issues related to retail management, buying, planning, distributing, and product development. The Housing program area prepares professionals for executive positions with residential property management firms, interior retailers, or housing agencies.
