Program Information
Degree Offered
Ph.D.- Cognitive Psychology (master's degree is incidental to the Ph.D.)
Format: Campus
Program Description:
Graduate students develop research and analytical skills while learning to coordinate basic research with theory development and application. Students are actively involved with faculty members in joint research projects. Florida State’s program in cognitive psychology features active research programs in attention, cognitive aging, expert performance, memory, psycholinguistics, reading, and skill acquisition. The goal of our program is to train students to be rigorous scientists, preparing them for careers as researchers in academic settings, in government, and in private industry.
Graduate students will work closely with one or more faculty during their time at FSU. Students begin developing a research program right away, embarking on a “first year project” during their first semester on campus. Through formal coursework and informal mentorship, students are taught the skills needed to do cutting-edge research in cognitive science.
