Program Description:

Need for Energy Systems The whole topic of energy is approached in its broadest sense, as research and development in this area overlaps considerably with several classical areas of the natural sciences and engineering. All these areas are covered by expertise from the various Institutes of the Research Center Jülich and by the specialist departments at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Juelich Campus. From fuel cells to nuclear technology, from solar architecture to biological energy processes, there are experts available to contribute to the education of interested young people from all over the world. In addition to the technical problems of energy conversion and energy efficiency, the general problems of the economics of world energy production, affordability, the relationship between energy and the environment and the sustainability of energy systems are covered. First Year courses include -Fundamentals of Engineering -Basics of Energy Systems -Mathematical Tools and Simulation -Industrial Energy Technology -Modeling of Systems and Processes -Management Systems and Business Administration Second Year courses include -Energy Efficiency -Renewable Energies -Fossil Energy Techniques -Supply and Disposal Technologies -Energy Applications -Advanced Modeling Techniques -Recourse Technologies -Plant Engineering -Distribution Technologies -Transformation of Energy -Sustainable Energy Systems and Energy Economics -Materials in Energy Techniques -Communication and Computer Skills -Management Skills In the second year of the program, in addition to attending lectures, students work on their research projects at the university, the Research Center Jülich, in industry, or at an associated university.
