Program Description:
The program's design and curriculum are based on the demands and challenges facing today's schools with a focus on developing a vision of a school as a community of learners and the administrative strategies and skills that engage all stakeholders in the decision-making process. Students in the program function within a cohort and mixed cohorts throughout their program of studies and learning relies heavily on small-group interaction and problem-based learning experiences. During the second year of the program, students will be able to apply the educational theory through an intensive, yearlong field experience in schools where outstanding practitioners have been identified. In addition to the field experience, in the second year of the program, students will be deeply engaged in a research project that integrates the skills of data-based research strategies for decision making and the analysis of an authentic school-based problem.
