MAT - Master of Arts in Teaching, Jewish Education Certification
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is a graduate program for individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree in the liberal arts or sciences and wish to enter the teaching profession. This program provides an efficient path to state teacher licensure. Classes are scheduled for the convenience of students who combine the rigors of study with the demands of work and family.
The concentration in Jewish Education is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to teach in Jewish day schools, yeshivas, and Talmud Torah (Sunday/Hebrew school) programs. Jewish schools are thriving today, growing both in number and size. Increasingly, these schools are looking for quality teachers, well versed in both secular and Jewish education. FDUÆs program is designed to build upon this need by training teachers licensed by the state and knowledgeable in Jewish education.
