Fairfield University's Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Track prepares the graduate to manage healthcare needs of individuals of all ages and their families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnosis and management of acute and chronic disease. You'll learn how to provide cost-effective, holistic care as a clinician, leader, manager, and professional.

As a licensed advanced practice nurse in family nurse practice, you'll be prepared to provide care to individuals of all ages, from newborn babies to older adults, and to address issues associated with women's health. You'll work in all care settings with a focus on delivering health promotion and disease prevention to people with acute and chronic disease. Clinical practica and theory courses will help you to develop differential diagnoses and required work-ups for:

Theory and practica are linked to prepare students for the evolving role of nurse practitioners working in all healthcare settings except critical care. Student placements for practice are planned with the Track Coordinator and the student throughout the program. Classroom discussions and simulation experiences allow for synthesis of:

Graduates of this program are eligible to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners certification exam to become licensed in any state as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
