Program Description:
The Rehabilitation Counseling Program prepares students to work with individuals with any type of physical, mental, emotional, and/or social disability. The field of rehabilitation takes a holistic approach addressing all aspects of an individual's life and empowering individual's to have control over their own lives. These concepts form the philosophical basis for coursework which prepares students to provide vocational guidance, psychological counseling, rehabilitation case management, and job development and placement services for persons with any type of physical, mental, emotional or social disability.
Students complete a 60 credit hour program which can be completed in 6 semesters. It emphasizes "hands on" skill development both in the classroom and community settings.
Graduates work in a variety of settings, including vocational, medical and psychiatric centers, mental health facilities, correctional facilities, substance abuse programs, and private practice.
