A dynamic and growing community of dedicated Africanists - combined with substantial resources and strong support - make Emory University a setting with much to offer for graduate studies related to Africa. Africanist graduate students pursue Ph.D. degrees in Anthropology, Art History, Comparative Literature, History, the Graduate Division of Religion, Political Science, and other departments. For Africanist students interested ininterdisciplinary work, the Graduate Institute of Liberal Arts also offers a Ph.D. degree focusing on comparative studies in culture and history.
