Program Information
Degree Offered
Master of Science in Technical Management
Program Description:
Major management disciplines are studied as a foundation for large-scale planning and decision-making, and students enhance classroom interaction by sharing perspectives and experiences from their work situations.
The MSTM program prepares technically-trained employees for advancement within their companies and for larger managerial responsibilities. The MSTM degree program is delivered on-site at selected industry and government locations where a group of students have made the commitment to start and complete the program.
The program builds on three foundation courses that teach students how to use computers as decision-making tools, how to communicate conclusions concisely and persuasively, and how to use quantitative methods to make business decisions. Courses in project management and management information systems are particularly popular with both students and employers.
Students are given assignments requiring projects, reports, and presentations that exercise the knowledge and skills they have learned. They also complete a capstone management project that deals with making an improvement or solving an actual problem faced by their company.
MSTM faculty are composed of working professionals and subject-matter experts who teach courses on-site at corporate and government facilities where it is convenient for employee-students. Each class of students remains together from the start of the program until their completion of the degree. Students can expect to complete degree requirements in less than two years while they continue to work.
