Accreditation:
The MFA Program is housed within the Department of English and Theatre at Eastern Kentucky University, a fully-accredited institution of higher learning located in Richmond, Kentucky. Since its inception in 2007, the program has been an ongoing supporting member of the Association of Writing Programs.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants should submit a portfolio of work in their preferred creative genre, or combination of genres (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction). Writing samples should be sent directly, as a Word attachment, to the program coordinator at eng.mfa@eku.edu. The writing sample should consist of: 1) Approximately 15 pages of poetry or 20 pages of prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and 2) A two-page statement of purpose addressing the applicant’s reasons for applying to the program. International Student Requirements:
Requirements for admission are the same as for domestic students. All classes may be taken online, except the student must be able to attend summer and winter residencies in person.
