Program Description:
This multidisciplinary program combines knowledge of public policy issues with scientific expertise and training in coastal resources management. Students receive intense instruction and complete a dissertation in one of four concentrations: -estuarine/coastal ecology, geosciences, coastal social science, or maritime studies. In addition students receive a general knowledge of two of the other three concentrations. Graduates will possess a combination of scientific training and management skills that will allow them to fill a unique niche as intermediaries between the research and policy-making communities. Based on current and projected environmental policy concerns, graduates will enter a job market that should be healthy for many years.
