Program Description:

This 111-credit hour, scientist-practitioner model training program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is nationally recognized by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). This program requires completion of coursework, a variety of supervised practica, a dissertation, and a predoctoral internship. Completion of this program leads to an M.S.Ed. in Child Psychology, a Ph.D. in School Psychology, and Certification as a School Psychologist by a State Department of Education. Ph.D. graduates are also prepared to apply for licensure by a State Board of Psychology. The School Psychology Program at Duquesne University has adopted 10 competencies around which coursework, field-experiences, and Program activities have been designed. These include the following:

International Student Requirements:

Same academic requirements as U.S. students. In addition, TOEFL test (Paper based 550 minimum and internet based 80 minimum) must be taken and possibly the Duquesne University English Placement Tests and successful completion of any required English language course work. Letters of recommendation submitted by persons in authority at former university. Financial documentation showing ability to pay for education and living expenses. Student to maintain full time status. Must have major medical coverage.
