Master of Arts
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Master of Arts in Studio Art and Theory is a 30-hour graduate degree program offered through Drury’s Summer Institute for Visual Arts. This program stresses creative work and focuses on the process of making art in the studio. Theory and criticism are explored both in the studio and in the classroom. Historical, ethical and philosophical insights are used to determine the significance and value of works created.
Students will learn how the creative process works and how to bring others into that process, as well as how to set project goals and evaluate the finished product.
Each two-month summer session offers students a rigorous, challenging, stimulating and rewarding experience creating and critiquing art while growing in technique and increasing in general knowledge. The creative exchange with instructors and other students will help deepen your appreciation and understanding of both your own and others’ work.
