Program Description:
A Ph.D. can be pursued in the fields of Environmental Science (including Environmental Policy) and Environmental Engineering in specialties consistent with interests of the Environmental Science affiliated faculty. To be awarded the Ph.D., students must complete a major research project publishable in a peer-reviewed journal. The degree requires a total of 90 credits; credits earned toward a master's degree may apply toward the 90. There is no prescribed coursework -- students must take courses needed to complete their research under guidance of an academic advisor. Students must successfully pass the qualifying examination, the candidacy examination, and a Ph.D. dissertation and oral defense.
