Program Description:

Creighton's School of Pharmacy and Health Professions created the nation's first entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in which students receive a clinical doctorate. This clinical doctorate is rapidly becoming the educational standard for the field. The program trains our physical therapists to have both a strong foundation in the biological sciences as well as a broad clinical background in patient care. The DPT does not require a bachelor's degree for admission, but instead, a minimum of three years of prerequisite coursework.CreightonÆs Doctor of Physical Therapy program prepares therapists who are dedicated to helping others by providing services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Our students learn to restore, maintain, and promote the overall fitness and health of their patients. Our DPT program prepares our graduates to fulfill all of the traditional duties of physical therapists, while helping them become transformational leaders of the profession. The program is based on models of other professional doctorate degrees in health sciences, such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and occupational therapy.
