Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Exhibition Design is designed to take advantage of the extensive collections, museum professionals, and courses available within the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design, as well as the diverse museum and art gallery community in Washington D.C. From the expansive permanent collection to the special exhibitions that take place each year, our students work with the curators and designers who make these exciting exhibitions a reality. Graduates of the program are equipped with both a strong background in design and firm grasp of the working culture of museums, affording them many professional opportunities. Corcoran students currently intern at institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, National Museum of American History, National Air and Space Museum, National Postal Museum, and the U.S. Navy Museum, as well as many exhibition design firms. Alumni of the program are well prepared for employment in museums, cultural institutions, exhibition design firms, and interior design and architectural firms throughout the country.

Completed Application form and Non- Refundable application Fee of $75; Official copies of college transcripts; Current Resume; Statement of Intent; 2 letters of recommendation; Design Portfolio (optional, for students seeking direct admission without prerequisites); Interview with Program Director (may be required); Writing Sample or Excerpt, 3-5 pages (optional)
