Program Information
Degree Offered
MA in Art Education
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Art Education M.A. program is designed for experienced teachers seeking to expand and deepen their knowledge of art and sharpen their educational abilities as a basis for their professional work and personal development. Our goal is to create a local, national and international community of colleagues engaged in active, shared learning to apply in their teaching. This curriculum presumes that students in the program either already have completed initial certification as teachers or do not intend this as a goal. Distinct from the Corcoran MAT, this program focuses on youth education in schools, while making use of our resources for museum and community linkages. Ample latitude for individual goals is emphasized. Part-time and summer study is common. A typical schedule equals 3-5 education, studio, or other art courses per year (including the summer semester).

The Corcoran College of Art + Design has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
