Program Description:

Concordia University Wisconsin Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program prepares competent professional nurse leaders to fulfill advanced practice nursing roles as family nurse practitioners, geriatric nurse practitioners and nurse educators. Nurse practitioner students learn primary care delivery to individuals and aggregates, over the entire life span in a variety of settings with other health care providers. Nurse educator students learn advanced practice and nursing educator skills for teaching in associate or baccalaureate degree nursing programs. In addition to on-campus programs, a flexible E-Learning option is available. Graduate level scholarly inquiry based on theoretically or clinically directed research provides the foundation for fulfillment of the professional standards and core competencies of advanced practice nursing or nursing education. Opportunities to enhance ongoing personal and professional growth and development are guided by Christian principles. Interaction with faculty, student colleagues, preceptors and other health-related professionals empower the graduate nurse adult learner to meet the expectations of advanced nursing practice and education.

The Certificate After Graduate Education (CAGE) program allows individuals who already have a master degree in nursing to add a different clinical emphasis. The CAGE program is individualized for each student. A transcript review of the previous MSN courses will be completed providing an opportunity to increase nursing knowledge and clinical experience without duplicating courses previously completed.

The purpose of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Concordia University Wisconsin will be able to prepare advanced practice nurses at the highest professional level of nursing practice and will advance the application of nursing knowledge for the purpose of improving health care for diverse populations. The postmaster's DNP curriculum builds on master level courses in theoretical foundations, research methods, advanced pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, pharmacology, and a clinical area of concentration. The DNP faculty represents a multidisciplinary team that will provide an expertise in areas of research, business leadership, health policy, immunology, informatics, biostatistics and epidemiology. Clinical faculty members are certified advanced practice nurses involved in clinical practice and bring current practice experience to the learning environment. Courses are built on a Christian foundation attending to students mind, body adn dpirit. Accelerated eight week classes, in a flexible e-learning format, make this a manageable program for most working professionals.
