Program Information

Degree Offered

Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts: New Projects

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts: New Projects is a project based, non-media specific curriculum that focuses on individual artistic/design development and creative leadership. The program brings together talented individuals from a variety of different media building a community that fosters exploration, professionalism and creative success.

Each semester students develop, propose and execute a project; the development and iteration of these projects is a creative act in itself and a core concept of the program. The goal is two fold, to center the graduate experience in the conceptual and production processes of sophisticated art making, and to graduate individuals who are capable of successfully developing, organizing and executing complex artistic/entrepreneurial endeavors.

Projects based in all traditional fine art media along with video, interactive design, animation, photography and installation can be accommodated.

The program is housed on the top floor of the Design Studios on Broad. This 9,500 sq.ft. space is home for the New Projects program, with individual student studios, a dedicated "smart" graduate seminar room, faculty offices, a lounge, and exhibition space.

The program designed for highly motivated and talented individuals, stressing art making, communication, writing and success. The ultimate goal is to produce creative leaders, artists who are interested in developing a strong and unique studio practice along with the skills and tools to succeed.
