Program Description:
The interdisciplinary Materials Science program is administered jointly by the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Refining, Chemistry and Geochemistry, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Physics and the Division of Engineering. Each department is represented on both the Governing Board and the Graduate Affairs Committees which are responsible for the operation of the program. The variety of disciplines provides for programs of study ranging from the traditional materials science program to a custom-designed program in one of the participating departments.

Colorado School of Mines is accredited through the doctoral degree by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association.
