Program Description:

The School Psychology and Counseling programs at William & Mary prepare highly qualified professionals to practice in the public schools or in related educational and mental health settings. The benefits of these programs include small class sizes, approachable professors, collegial atmosphere and a focus on practical experiences. The School Psychology Program at William & Mary is an innovative 3-year program in which students begin working within schools during their first semester. Students build close, collaborative relationships with the School Psychology faculty members and with a group of highly skilled clinical faculty members who work as school psychologists in area school divisions as they tackle real-world issues. Counseling Programs - At William & Mary we offer CACREP-Accredited Master's Degrees (M.Ed.) in School Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling, and Community Counseling (with an Addictions Specialty option). We also offer a Doctoral Degree in Counselor Education (Ph.D.). At the master's level, students can, in two years, complete all coursework and internship experiences necessary for certification and licensure in their specialty. At the doctoral level, graduates are trained to assume clinical leadership or counselor education faculty positions. The program is nationally recognized for a highly collaborative and interactive learning environment, mentoring from faculty who are active scholars and leaders, and an ongoing history of academic excellence.
