Program Description:
The program is designed to further the competence of secondary (grades 7-12) school teachers in the areas of English, mathematics, science, and social studies beyond the baccalaureate level. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will have met the academic requirements for *Professional or Initial Certification in a subject area in Adolescence Education.
*Two separate pathways are provided:
Sequence 1: Designed for students who have completed the required coursework for Initial Certification in a subject area (Biology, Math, English or Social Studies) in Adolescence Education
Sequence 2: Designed for students who wish to become secondary education teachers in Biology, Math, English or Social Studies but have not completed the coursework required for Initial Certification
Eligibility Requirements:
Sequence 1 applicants must have the New York Staten Initial or Provisional Certification in Adolescence or Secondary Education.
All applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendations (academic or professional) and a 1-2 page letter of intent.
