Program Description:

The A.C.T. Programs are accelerated certification programs of teacher preparation approved by The New JerseyState Department of Education. Persons pursuing K-12 certification must have earned a BA/BS degree in the major area for which they are applying and passed the PRAXIS II Subject Assessment Test(s). Students pursuing K-8 elementary teacher certification must have earned a B.A./B.S. degree in liberal arts and pure sciences, or have successfully completed at least 60 liberal arts credits and a passing score on the Praxis 2 test of General Knowledge. Certified teachers are eligible to enroll in the courses for an endorsement in Teacher of the Handicapped. A Pre-K through 3rd grade certification program has been added recently in a Fast Track cohort-based format.
