Teaching, Learning, and Advocacy
Format: Campus
Program Description:
Explore new ways of impacting each student you teach. With the specializations we offer, you will be better able to focus on the needs of children and youth in challenging situations- especially those who live in poverty. The core courses inspire you to think systematically about your practice while they simultaneously prepare you to become an advocate for students and the profession. The program allows you to develop expertise as a change agent and advocate for your students and/or for your school or school system. You will explore and analyze your relationship with the students and the teaching profession by engaging in thought-provoking readings, discussion, and self-reflection. You will develop a deep understanding of diverse children and youth, the ways in which the school community works and the way societal context shapes the way children and youth engage in learning and life.
