Graduate Certificate

Program Description:

The fundamental approach to building software systems is in transition, moving from one that is in based on the notion that software development is exclusively a creational endeavor, to one in which the importance of compositional approaches is recognized. This means that software applications will be composed by coordinating the interaction of a collection of network-addressable units of computation. Service-oriented computing (SOC) is a new architectural style and methodology for the construction of software systems. The SOC graduate certificate program provides students with focused exposure to and experience with four key topical areas that are important to the understanding and implementation of software systems that are based on the tenants of SOC. These four areas are distributed systems architecture, semantic technologies, IT policy and strategy, and enterprise architecture.
