Program Description:
MSHP graduates have excellent potential employment opportunities in the following areas: clinics, hospitals, private and public health care facilities, state and federal agencies, professional associations and even the military. The list is varied and lengthy.
Graduates will be prepared to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam or other health-related professional certification.
There is no doubt that this is the perfect time to consider a career in health promotion. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the health education profession is expected to grow much faster than the average for all profession.
The MSHP degree, offered through the College of Graduate Studies, requires 36 credit hours of coursework, including 21 credit hours of core courses. Up to 70% of your class time can be completed online. The core course block is designed to provide students with advanced study in, planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programs. A capstone project, similar to an internship, provides an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge acquired through the program in a real life setting.
