Program Description:

City University of Seattle's Professional Certificate Program for Teachers is designed for teachers in the state of Washington who received their Residency Teacher Certificate after September 1, 2000. The Professional Certificate is the advanced teaching license required of residency certificate holders who wish to continue teaching in Washington State. (This program is for existing WA teachers.) The overall goal of the program is to facilitate your professional development, which ultimately enhances your students' learning. At CityU of Seattle you will: 1. Verify your proficiency in the Professional Certificate Standards and Criteria, 2. Validate your positive impact on student learning, 3. Cultivate the habits that will inform and energize practice throughout your career: data-driven decision making, professional development, and parental involvement, 4. Integrate your professional certificate work with related school and/or school district improvement initiatives, and 5. Engage in professional collaboration with district and university colleagues.
